This year's MUCS trip will be to Geneva, where we will visit and tour CERN (including the ATLAS experiment) on Friday 24th May! You will see that there are two ticket types available on Eventbrite, one which includes the tour of CERN, and one which doesn't. This is because CERN have limited the tour to a maximum of 12 people (two groups of six) so registrations for this will be on a first come, first served basis. If you would still like to come on the trip, and not visit CERN, that's also fine, just register for a ticket that doesn't include the CERN tour. Eventbrite registrations need to be made by Friday February 1st as CERN require a list of names from us asap to confirm the tour. We will be asking for a £100 deposit from everyone to secure your place, payable by 28th February. MUCS has agreed to contribute £5,000 towards this trip, so if the total cost comes in at less than £5,000 you will receive all of your deposit back. However if the cost exceeds £5,000 you may only receive a small portion of your deposit back, so please be prepared for this before you register. Until we have defined numbers of people we are unable to confirm what the total cost will be. The plan will be to fly from Manchester airport to Geneva on Thursday 23rd May, and return to Manchester on Monday 27th May. Flights, transport to/from airports, and accommodation will be paid for by MUCS. There is no cost for the CERN tour. Accommodation will be hostel accommodation in Geneva city centre. If you have any questions, please get in touch with a MUCS Committee member! P.S. Plus one's (non MUCS members) are welcome to come on the trip but we will give priority to MUCS members for the CERN tour. As with previous events, non MUCS members will be asked to pay for themselves. Please forward this Eventbrite page to any plus one's and ask them to register by Friday February 1st.
